It has already been a week since the show? Wow! I just want to take the time to call out a big thank you to everyone who helped to make our last show at the Ramona Mainstage on the 7th, a success. Despite the fact that it rained all day and into the night, there were quite a few diehard RUSH fans who attended anyway, including a really hot birthday party who all just showed up to support us.
By name, there are a few we should mention, we want to thank Ray, our techie friend who did an expert job of engineering our sound, both on and off stage. Josh, who captured our intrepid journey on video and audio (more videos coming later). Doug, who illuminated the stage, Mark, who braved the rain with me to help set up, Orrin who provided the fine theater and refreshments needed for us to play that night, my daughter Sonya and friend Celine who took these photos, and Robert, Mitch, and Tom for the promotional help. I also want to thank Dave Hardin, our previous guitarist for all the friendship, hard work, and dedication he put into the early stages of this band.
I talked with musicians from other bands, reconnected with folks I haven’t seen for ages, and just generally enjoyed myself. Also, it pretty much goes without saying that the whole band cut loose a bit that night. I never saw so many RUSH T-shirts outside of an actual RUSH show. Heck I saw my very first RUSH tattoo that night.
We had some milestones to mark too:
- Bill Vilhelm, our newest member, showed his mettle (metal?) as the new guitarist for HeadRUSH.
- Vinnie Lee our illustrious Bassist, tried out some new gear and was again reminded of the reason why he put this band together…FUN, RUSH, and a little more fun…
- Mono, our “Professor” of the band gave us all a lesson in drum etiquette during YYZ, and generally amazed us all with his flying sticks.
- Then there was Absalom the rat…who had the thrill of his life, but still perches himself atop Vinnie’s keyboard despite the abuse abuse I gave him during Subdivisions.
Don’t worry too much that you haven’t heard when we play next. We don’t know either. We are going to polish our chops and show a bit over the next couple of months and we’ll be sure to let you all know when and where the next show will be.
Speaking of T-shirts, sometime soon, we will be starting our Cafe Press site to offer HeadRUSH branded shirts, hats, mousepads, stickers, etc. Heck, anything anyone really wants should be available in multiple colors and sizes. Please stay tuned.
Until then, remember there is magic at your fingers…pull out a RUSH album you don’t know yet, and get familiar. We may just end up playing it for you at one of our future shows.
See ya then…

Great show — thanks for the post. However, I was confused about the last line “pull out a Rush album you don’t know yet”. Not possible!
Looking forward to the next show,
Mitch
Hey Jeff & Co.,
Want to let you and your fans know that we have photos from your show up on the Ramona Mainstage gallery. You can also see them in our account on Flickr.
Looking forward to the next time you play.
