Welcome back for another RUSH fix! Are you on our email Mailing List? Find the white box on the left of the page and type in your email address, then hit the Subscribe button. Thanks for your support of tribute bands!
I wanted to drop a post to let everyone on the HEADRush friends list that sadly, there is not likely to be any shows this coming year, unless something changes. I will still keep up the site and post from time to time if anything Rushlike happens. I will also be doing everything I can to get HEADRush back out on the stage in coming years.
Some of you know that it isn’t likely that I will be sitting this one out, so if any of you want to come out for a night’s entertainment, my other band MÿndCrÿme (Queensryche tribute) will be playing at the 4th and B in San Diego on Friday April 9th and will be opening for Firehouse, a great heavy band from the 80s. We will also be competing in the Ultimate Music Challenge at Viejas Dreamcatcher Showroom this year, and the first heat is on Sunday April 18th. Come on out and support us. MÿndCrÿme website
Hey thanks everyone for supporting HeadRUSH and Metal Priestess at Molly’s over the Labor Day weekend.
Metal Priestess kicked arse as we knew they would, and it was great to see more new friends along with so many familiar faces that night… Read More »
It was a fine morning in March 1982. The warm weather and clear sky gave promise of an early spring. Buzz had arisen early that morning, impatiently eaten breakfast and gone to the garage. Opening the door, he saw the sunshine bounce off the gleaming hood of his 15-year-old MGB roadster. After carefully checking the fluid levels, tire pressures and ignition wires, Buzz slid behind the wheel and cranked the engine, which immediately fired to life. He thought happily of the next few hours he would spend with the car, but his happiness was clouded — it was not as easy as it used to be. Read More »
Thanks to everyone for all the great fun we had playing Rush tunes for you all at Dreamstreet this past Saturday, Aug 8th. There were lots of new faces and we had a good time sharing the stage with Children of the Grave. Our next show will be Saturday, September 5th at Molly Malone’s in Ramona and our special guest will be Metal Priestess. Never heard of them? There is an opportunity to see them this coming weekend. If you miss them on the “Women who rock” show at the Brick by Brick this Saturday, Aug 15th, 8:00 pm, you will be able to catch them again when we share the stage with them.
One of my favorite all time guitarists would of course be Alex Lifeson. He is really stepping up his stage act recently. During the Snakes and Arrows tour, there are multiple “Barbie Doll” groupies known as “Big Al’s Babes” standing on stage in front of Alex Lifeson, holding “Post-It” notes with various sayings on them, apparently created by the roadies. Happy Bastille Day everybody! On this day back in 1789 Parisians stormed the Bastille, freeing its inmates and taking the prison’s large quantities of arms and ammunition, thereby setting in motion the French Revolution. More importantly, back in 1975 Rush decided to write a song about it. There’s no bread, let them eat cake!
There’s no bread, let them eat cake
There’s no end to what they’ll take
Flaunt the fruits of noble birth
Wash the salt into the earth
But they’re marching to Bastille Day Read More »
I just want to thank everyone for a killer time at Molly’s on the 27th of June. There were lots of familiar faces, plus many more new ones.
It was exciting to have such a cool stage, a masterful sound guy, and our guitarist Dave all in one show. Everything sounded superb and we all agreed afterward that this one was the best fun we’ve had so far. We had a special guest from Mono’s drum group come up on the stage and pound out Dreamline with us. As a matter of fact, the whole dang drum group was there cheering us on. Thanx guys. I also want to introduce and thank our new stage manager, Tom Horn, who we have recently welcomed into the band to help us tame our technical issues. We have plans… Read More »
I guess some of you remember how when HeadRUSH first started booking shows last year, we had this amazing guitarist with a near-Lifeson-like sound.…we thought we lost him to the bad economy.
After 35 years of criticism, Rush is now considered cool

If you have waited decades for the signal to come out of the closet and declare your allegiance to “The Holy Triumvirate,” as Jason Segal dubs Rush in “I Love You, Man,” consider this your official notice.
After 35 years as one of rock music’s most persistent punch lines — the singer sounds like a girl, the songs are long and pedantic, some fans are obsessive, the band is indulgent and Canadian — Rush is suddenly cool.
In fact, even more remarkably, liking Rush is cool.
I am just kicking back with me mug of grog and I guess I missed the Dust n Bones show last week? Damn! (hurry, blame the grog)
Well, such as it is. I will try and make the next one. However, I am rather excited to exclaim that HeadRUSH has two confirmed gigs coming up:
-April 24th at Dreamstreet in OB
-May 22 at Fannies in Spring Valley (all nite)
See our events calendar for more info. You can also see us on the Reader and Eventful.
We have our new guitarist Vilhelm Lifeson, Sargeant of arms, Teutonic axe wielder, and we are gearing up to cause the geekiest of us to exhort wildly and drink large quantities of the aformentioned grog while rocking their OCD tendencies to new heights of outright glee…just keep yer cutlass in it’s scabbard now matey. Chapter 2 of HeadRUSH is coming along nicely with updates to our songlist. Meanwhile, we are getting ready to book some dates to play in San Diego. Look for them coming up soon.
Until then, I have something you might enjoy. I Just ran into an article on Blender magazine where they recently interviewed Geddy Lee and opened up questions to the readers. There were a lot of interesting questions. For example…

It has already been a week since the show? Wow! I just want to take the time to call out a big thank you to everyone who helped to make our last show at the Ramona Mainstage on the 7th, a success. Read More »
How do you describe the gratitude, when after only a week of promotion, the place fills up for the show?
I want to thank Dreamstreet Live, the band OU812, and all the fans of RUSH that filled the place on Friday night to party hardy and rock the place down.
The beer was good, the crowd was nice, and we are pretty happy to have provided a night’s entertainment to a bunch of excited and animated RUSH fans. Read More »
I found out about Tribute City way back when I started Monsters of Rock. These guys have the clearinghouse of all the local Tribute bands out there and their sites.
I just want to say Thanx Tribute City for featuring us and for providing a much-needed resource for bands and fans to keep up on where to go for a great party. HeadRUSH is definitely looking forward to sharing the stage with these bands and giving the fans of this music another reason to come and support Tribute bands. Check them out at http://www.tributecity.com/index.html
Woah, we had a great time! Many thanks to the management of Dreamstreet Live in OB for helping to make our first public performance a real hit. Most especially, thanks to all of our freinds and RUSH fans that came to check us out. We met Billy the owner who invited us back for another show.
The HeadRUSH web site is a brand new creation. HeadRUSH is a San Diego tribute to the band and music of the legendary Toronto band.…RUSH!
Though this site is up, there are many things to add and modify before it can escape the clutches of construction. So, here is a toast to the ultimate success of the band that is HeadRUSH.
